Partnering with Parents for the Faith and Joy of the Next Generation

2026 VBS SIGNUPS ARE OPEN!

Our Aim for Our Children

At Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, we believe children are not the church of tomorrow—they are a vital part of the church today. Our children’s ministry exists to come alongside parents and those entrusted with the care of children as they raise them to delight in God, cling to Jesus, and joyfully join Him in His mission.

Delight in God

Everything exists for the glory of God—including children. We want children to grow in wonder and joy as they learn that God is supremely good, worthy of worship, and present in every part of life. Our ministry seeks to help children see all of life as an opportunity to glorify God and delight in Him (Westminster Shorter Catechism, Q.1).

Cling to Jesus

Apart from Jesus, there is no hope in the world (Ephesians 2:12). In Jesus we are forgiven, set free, and brought into the family of God. We want our children’s lives to be saturated with the reality of who Jesus is and what He has done for them—and for the world. If our children are going to delight in God, they must cling to Jesus as their only hope and greatest joy.

Join Jesus on His Mission

As children grow in their love for God and trust in Christ, we want them to understand that they are called to join God’s work in the world. Jesus is restoring all things, and He bids His people—young and old—to share His love and truth. We seek to plant seeds of mission that grow as children mature in faith and obedience (Matthew 28:19–20).

What to Expect on Sundays

Worship Service

Children of every age are always welcome in our worship services for the entire service. Jesus said, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them” (Mark 10:14), and we take His words seriously. We believe that children are invited participants in the life and worship of the church.

Children learn how to worship the same way they learn so many other things—by watching, listening, and imitating. As they see God’s people pray, sing, be baptized, confess sin, partake of the Lord’s Supper, and hear God’s Word proclaimed, they are being quietly and faithfully formed. For this reason, we encourage families to worship together in ways that are most beneficial for their children, while providing simple resources to help them engage. Guided note taking sheets, coloring pages, and children’s Bibles can all be found on the children’s ministry table in The Commons.

Nursery

Nursery care is available for infants and toddlers, providing a safe and loving environment where children are cared for with the love of Christ and their parents are encouraged and supported. Secure check-in and communication procedures are used to ensure peace of mind for parents.

Children’s Church (Ages 3–5)

Following the Doxology, children ages 3–5 are invited to Children’s Church for an age-appropriate, gospel-centered lesson and activities.

Catechism Club (Grades K–5)

Following the Doxology, children in kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to Catechism Club, where they study the Christian faith using the children’s version of the historic Westminster Catechism.

  • Beginning Catechism (Grades K–2) introduces foundational questions and core doctrines of the Christian faith.
  • Advanced Catechism (Grades 3–5) builds on those foundations, helping children grow in depth, clarity, and confidence in what they believe.

Our goal is not mere memorization, but thoughtful engagement—helping children understand what they believe, why they believe it, and how those truths shape their lives.

Please note: There is neither Children’s Church nor Catechism Club on the first Sunday of each month in order that the entire church body can gather around the Lord’s Table.

Education Hour / Sunday School

During Education Hour, children are divided by age and taught using Show Me Jesusa Bible-based, Christ-centered curriculum that teaches the unfolding story of redemption from Genesis to Revelation and builds on God’s truth in age-appropriate ways.

Vacation Bible School

Each summer we host a week-long Vacation Bible School that serves both our church family and the wider community. VBS is a joyful, focused opportunity for children to learn biblical truth, build friendships, and experience Christ’s love in action.

All of our Vacation Bible Schools are written and created in-house, allowing us to teach Scripture in a way that is distinctly Reformed, theologically rich, and intentionally connected to the life and worship of the local church. We welcome this opportunity to proclaim the Gospel clearly while reaching children both inside and outside our congregation.

Safety & Care

The safety of our children is a responsibility we take seriously. All volunteers and childcare providers complete child safety training and undergo background checks before serving in children’s or youth ministry.
